WHO WE ARE: A STORY THAT STARTS IN 1974

Pirinplast AD was founded in 1974 in Gotse Delchev, southwestern Bulgaria. The factory began producing household polymer goods – basins, buckets, containers – for the domestic market. What mattered from day one was not the product, but the process: consistent output, repeatable quality, no shortcuts.

By the 1980s the facility had outgrown its original scope. Corrugated sheet extrusion launched in 1983, polymer nettings followed in 1986 with four dedicated lines. Privatization in 1996 accelerated modernization; ISO 9001 certification came in 2001; pharmaceutical sector entry in 2012 proved the process rigour that separates industrial-grade manufacturers from commodity producers.

The thread running through every decade: tradition meets innovation. The discipline inherited from 50 years of continuous operation, combined with ongoing investment in technology, materials science, and sustainability. That is the Pirinplast formula.

FACILITIES & CAPABILITIES

Headquarters & production: Gotse Delchev, Industrial Zone – a purpose-built facility spanning approximately 17,000 m², housing all conversion lines, raw material silos, quality laboratory, tool workshop, granulation/recycling units, and finished-goods warehousing under one roof. Linear flow from resin intake to certified packaged product, with documented traceability at every stage.

Core technologies: extrusion (flat-sheet, corrugated profile, netting), injection molding (multi-cavity, automated part handling), and blow molding (hollow-body containers). Three platforms at a single site – unified quality governance across every output.

The company is not defined by any single product line – Pirinplast is the production infrastructure. Where a standard catalogue item falls short, we engineer the variant your application needs.

More than 95% of our output crosses borders. Our products are embedded in active supply chains across Western and Eastern Europe – Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK through to Romania, Greece, Serbia, and the wider Balkans.

What distinguishes our position is the longevity of our partnerships. The majority of principal clients have maintained continuous relationships with Pirinplast for over 10 years. Governs every stage from incoming material inspection through final dispatch. Verified conformance to agreed specifications, complete production traceability, and delivery performance you can build schedules around. Our polypropylene products are manufactured from certified food-contact grade resins in full compliance with EU food safety regulation. Critical for food logistics, HORECA, and pharmaceutical applications.

Our CMS sharps containers are certified for the regulated transport of hazardous clinical waste under the European Agreement concerning Dangerous Goods by Road and the governing standard for sharps disposal containers.

Our BIO cutlery and compostable product lines are certified to European compostability standards – validated for industrial composting environments.

SUSTAINABILITY & CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Sustainability at Pirinplast is a set of quantifiable operational decisions – not a marketing narrative. Every measure below reduces waste, energy use, and environmental footprint without compromising product performance.

Energy independence: since 2019, on-site photovoltaics generate 100% OF FACILITY POWER. Every product leaves our factory manufactured entirely with renewable energy.

◆ Returnable Transport Packaging (RTP)
VELPLASTIC® sheets and injection-molded crates are engineered for hundreds of reuse cycles in closed-loop systems. One component replaces hundreds of cardboard equivalents, slashing per-trip cost, waste volumes, and Scope 3 emissions. This is the future the EU demands; it is our present operating model.

◆ Closed-Loop Recycling
In-house granulation lines process 50–60 tonnes/month. Recycled feedstock integrates directly into production with zero performance loss. Our official buy-back programme returns end-of-life products to Pirinplast for re-extrusion – zero landfill from your packaging.

◆ PPWR-Ready (Regulation EU 2025/40)
We operate exclusively with PP and HDPE (#5 and #2) – widely recycled polymers with established EU infrastructure. Our products already meet PPWR recyclability, recycled content, and reuse targets effective August 2026. Learn more →

PIRINPLAST Timeline

Half a century of manufacturing – from household goods to high-performance polymer solutions serving European supply chains.

1974 - Founded

Pirinplast is established in Gotse Delchev, Bulgaria, manufacturing household polymer products. Process discipline and consistent output from day one.

1983 - Sheet Extrusion

Polypropylene corrugated sheet extrusion begins – the strategic pivot from household goods to industrial packaging. By 1986 it becomes a principal facility output and the origin of VELPLASTIC®.

1986 - Polymer Nettings

Four dedicated extrusion lines commissioned for extruded polymer nettings, expanding into agriculture, construction, aquaculture, and industrial protection.

1996 - Privatization

Transition to fully private ownership, enabling focused investment in equipment modernization and EU export market development.

2001 - ISO 9001 Certified

Quality Management System certified to EN ISO 9001 – the documented process governance underpinning every production run.

2007 - Polycarbonate Line

Italian-manufactured OMIPA polycarbonate sheet line integrated, broadening material capability beyond polyolefins.

2012 - Pharmaceutical Sector

Supply partnerships established with major pharmaceutical players, meeting the most rigorous hygiene and regulatory standards in Pirinplast’s history.

2018 - Biodegradable Production

Certified biodegradable compound processing introduced – PLA-based and alternative biopolymers, ahead of EU packaging legislation.

2019 - 100% Solar-Powered

On-site photovoltaic arrays achieve full coverage of facility energy demand. All production from this point runs on renewable energy.

2024 - Half a Century

50 years of uninterrupted manufacturing. Active supply chains across Western and Eastern Europe, with the majority of key accounts maintained for over a decade.
